Amazed!
I'm amazed and then not at all surprised that people can actually get their knickers in a twist over SpongeBob SquarePants. I guess just as amazed as I was to find out that the Harry Potter books were being banned by several schools on the Island and people were continuously writing letters to the editor about the evil being proposed within the books' pages. In some small way I can understand putting up the dukes when it comes to those violent video games or slasher movies where blood is constantly splashed across the screen. But when people attack the several positive shows or books that children have grown so attached to and are actually learning from or READING that's a big deal and not to be taken lightly. It's a shame that in our own community books as popular and magical as Harry Potter have been banned because of the few small majority who believe that the underlying message is the work of Satan, or that SpongeBob has to be targeted because he might just be gay. The best that can come from it all is when the people attacking these popular characters screw up big time as is the case of Focus on Family-the centre of this story. It shows that they generally don't know what they're talking about.
